The internship presented the work carried out by the construction company Arquitectura Habitat y Desarrollo Zomac S.A.S., under construction contract No. SIV-2024-0113. The purpose of this project was to construct a rigid pavement on 3B Street, between 66C and 72nd Avenues, in the Jorge Eliecer Gaitán and Alfonso López Michelsen neighborhoods, in the El Pailón area of the Buenaventura Special District, Valle del Cauca. During the internship, technical support was provided in supervising the construction process of 80 linear meters of pavement, which included activities such as excavation, material removal, backfilling with imported materials, soil compaction, steel reinforcement, installation of wooden forms, level verification, and concrete pouring. In addition, we supervised the construction materials to ensure that everything was done with the highest quality and in strict compliance with standards and technical specifications. We performed density tests on the compacted soil and strength tests on the concrete to verify compliance with the required parameters to guarantee the pavement's stability and durability. The construction of this project seeks to directly benefit the community by improving its infrastructure and, consequently, the quality of life of its residents. This intervention not only facilitates vehicular and pedestrian mobility by providing a road in optimal condition, but also improves access to public services and fosters a safer and more orderly environment. Furthermore, by reducing problems with waterlogging and road deterioration, the pavement's useful life is extended and future maintenance costs are reduced.
